Roeser's Bakery has stayed in the same family since John Roeser Sr., a German immigrant, opened it in 1911 — handed down to his son John Jr. and wife Barbara in 1936, then to John III and Deb in the 1970s, making it Chicago's oldest family-owned bakery.

The Humboldt Park storefront still turns out the maple bacon doughnut regulars ask for by name, along with custom cakes and cookies, and picked up a new audience after The Bear used it as the bakery where Marcus dreams of training.

There's a small parking lot on-site, a rarity for a bakery this size in Humboldt Park, and it's closed Mondays.
