Kuma's Corner

FoodAvondale · Burgers/American Community-sourced, unverified
📍 2900 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60618

Kuma's Corner opened in 2005 at Belmont and Francisco in Avondale with founder Ron Cain's mission scrawled on the wall: support your community, eat beef, bang your head.

Every burger is named after a heavy metal band — order the Metallica, the Iron Maiden, or go deep-cut with the Goblin Cock or Bongzilla — each a half-pound patty on a pretzel roll, with album covers and band posters covering the walls. The one non-metal name, the Kuma Burger itself, comes stacked with bacon, cheddar, and a fried egg.

It's popular enough that Avondale now has siblings in Schaumburg and Indianapolis, but this original location is still the one metalheads and burger obsessives treat as the pilgrimage.
