Girl & The Goat

Food + DrinkWest Loop · American/Gastro Community-sourced, unverified
📍 809 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60607

Stephanie Izard opened Girl & the Goat in 2010 as one of the first restaurants on what became Randolph Street's restaurant row, and thirteen years later it still books out weeks ahead.

Tourist Friendly
Dish Gem$$
The caramel corn and malt balls dessert is the order nobody expects and everybody remembers.
📈 Scores in the top 100% of Dish Gems on ChicagoSpecials.com

The roasted pig face is the dish people bring up unprompted — cheek, snout, and tongue rolled like a porchetta, finished in the wood oven, topped with a sunny-side egg — and it remains the signature order even as the seasonal menu around it keeps shifting. Everything here is built for a table sharing plates, not one person ordering an entree, and the room leans into it: loud, warm, genuinely fun rather than fine-dining formal despite a James Beard nomination on the wall.

A Top Chef win, a James Beard Best Chef award, and a menu that still treats 'make your whole mouth happy' as an actual philosophy rather than a tagline. Reserve well ahead, or try your luck at the chef's counter for a walk-up tasting seat.
